Job Description: 

Reporting to the Assistant Director, the Finance Accounting Specialist at the Harrisburg Campus of Temple University assists in the preparation, review and maintenance of relevant financial and fiscal business documents, reports, files and records of financial transactions. S/he performs assigned duties, under general supervision, such as:  tracking financial expenditures; preparing monthly expenditure reports on contracts/grants; preparing and tracking requisitions; reconciling University cost centers; preparing contracts, invoices and analyzing financial information to determine present and future financial performance. The Finance Accounting Specialist acts as the liaison with other fiscal entities at the University. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience: 

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in accounting, finances or related business field and a minimum of one year of directly related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills & Abilities: 
  • Must have excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.

  • High professional standards and attention to detail is required.

  • Knowledge of accounting practices, billing, and collection activity.

  • Demonstrated customer service skills.

  • Ability to work on multiple competing projects.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills along with the ability to effectively communicate with diverse groups of individuals.

  • Understanding of financial reporting principles.
