A look back at professional development offered through the Institute on Adolescent Sexual Health in collaboration with community partners:

In 2015-2016, the Institute provided training on Developmental Assets for Youth.  Designed by Search Institute, Temple Harrisburg facilitated “Everyone’s an Asset Builder” and “Sharing the Asset Message”.

Additionally, the Institute hosted LGBTQ Sensitivity and Cultural Competency training facilitated by Persad Center.

In June 2015, the Institute hosted its 3rd Annual Adolescent Sexual Health Conference.  Attracting youth-serving professionals from across the Commonwealth, we heard:

I liked best -- “…the wide variety of workshops, the quality of each session, and how relevant the content is for the kids we will be teaching...”

“Content was spot-on”

“…compliments to the planning committee on a job well done.”

“…at least one thing to take home out of each session”

In 2014, the Institute funded the Center for Sex Education to train 80 professionals across Pennsylvania on the use of some of their most essential and innovative educational resources.

In 2013, the Institute hosted 50 professionals for 24-hour seminars on A Trauma-Informed Approach for Adolescent Sexual Health, facilitated by Joanne Schladale of Resources for Resolving Violence. This seminar provided a foundation for understanding the influence of trauma on adolescent sexual decision-making by combining research on childhood trauma with best practices for sex education.
